Washington - (Ass Mess): The Hillary Clinton camp is poised for a dramatic Thanksgiving Day announcement naming Tipper Gore as their top choice for Veep on the Dems' 2008 dream thicket.
"She's the ideal choice," a DC source said today pointing out the decision to pick the 57 year-old wife of ex-Vice President Al Gore would send a strong unifying message to US voters everywhere:
"Tipper is the silent, strong blonde type. Untainted by scandal, admired from near and far. And, like Hillary, with eight solid years of Capitol Hill experience behind her.
"With a famous Nobel Peace Prize-winner trophy husband in the background, who knows what Tipper could bring to the US leadership under Hillary's command?"
Like ex-President Bill Clinton, spouse Al Gore has already ruled himself out of any official Administration position in the event of Hillary becoming the 44th US President.
"But I'm right behind Tipper in this remarkably brave decision to do what's right for this family, for the Democratic Party, for the United States and for the world as a whole," a close friend of Al Gore said today.
Meanwhile a source for Republicans Abroad has reminded the public today of an incident in 1992 when a US newspaper ran a story saying that "Tipper is a dog's name!"
"The former Second Lady of the United States was utterly incensed, took it very personally and sued the paper," the source continued.
"But when it came to court the newspaper won hands down.
"Their winning hand? A petition run by the editorial department which canvassed a total of 1.5 million US doglovers' affidavits saying they had named their pet Tipper!"
