Cape Canaveral, Florida (IP) - The next Survivorman Show will inform viewers how to survive a Shuttle launch as well as survival tips for the Cape Canaveral area.
The show is hosted by Canadian Les Storud and he takes on ice caps, jungles, deserts, African Mamba snakes, and many other hazardous conditions for a week at a time with a minimum amount of gear.
In the Shuttle episode Les Stroud advises folks not to get within 3 miles of the launch pad during a launch. He explains how the area under the launch pad can get very hot during the ignition phase of the Shuttle's flight.
Another piece of advice given during this episode advises people to get a hotel room or a camping spot if they are going to stay at the Cape for a week. He says its not good to be mistaken for a homeless person.
There are many nice hotels along US-1 and AIA in the Cape Canaveral area and camping is available at Sebastian Inlet Park, Canaveral Inlet Park, and Long Point Park. He says if you go diving you should not inhale any water nor tangle with alligators and crocodiles and also do not let a sting ray sting you on your chest with the barb on its tail.
Other survival methods mentioned: Do not get run over by cars and trucks and do not jump off the top of any tall buildings. Also stay out of incinerators and high voltage transformers. Lastly he says do not cut you arteries with a sharp object and do not point a gun in the wrong direction if you are going to shoot it.
