Monday was a day of mass chaos throughout the US amidst a massive fast-food worker walk-out organized by a YouTube contributor.
In Washington, workers staged a protest in front of the White House chanting 'Eat THIS, eat THIS, eat THIS!' as they waved Happy Meal boxes filled with what reportedly smelled like horse manure. The Happy Meals included a Shrek toy for Dick Cheney and a Baby Shrek for President Bush.
Protest organizers contend that the Minimum Wage should be abolished to end Corporate and government manipulation of the American workforce. In the food service industry, corporations such as McDonald's would be forced to pay more and more attractive wages in order to compete for the best workers. An adjunct to that is a natural progression of cost of living increase with no government involvement.
Opponents expressed concern that with no government control, Americans will demand excessive compensation and send many economically important corporations into a cost vs. profit conundrum.
Abolition proponents, however, stated that if a Happy Meal gets too expensive, the corporation and workers both lose. A spokesman noted: "American workers aren't dumb. They will demand what is fair, as will fast-food lovers."
