WASHINGTON, DC, 5/8/07 - The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, came under intense pressure on Monday to resign following revelations that she had met with a former White House aide in a bid to engineer the impeachment of President George Bush. Ms Lewinsky, who can't be named for legal reasons, was unavailable for comment.
Democratic Presidential candidate, Hilary Clinton, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the plot had been instigated at her husband's suggestion. "She's a bright girl with a good head on her," Mrs Clinton enthused, prompting speculation that she had met with Ms Lewinsky privately.
Speaking at a hastily arranged press conference, the George Bush appeared tense. However, once Tony Snow had defined the word 'sanguine' for him, the President decided he was sanguine. "I'm sure it'll all blow over," Bush declared, no doubt buoyed after locating his Texas ranch on Google Earth.
