American Idol judge Simon Cowle is at the centre of a row over the disrespect he showed to the victims of the Virginia shootings.
As contestant Chris Richardson paid tribute to the 32 people who were shot dead on Monday, Cowle raised his eyebrows and rolled his eyes as he waited for the singer to finish his speech.
Ten thousand viewers rang the show to complain about the Englishman who set up his own Syco record company in 2002, and yesterday he was forced to give an explanation for his behaviour.
"I was indicating to Paula Abdul - and by the way, she's very tasty! - that Chris was singing 'nasally'. Nothing more than that."
Richardson joined the chorus of complaints, calling Cowle "a wanker" and "a homo".
Cowle, who hails from Britain's gay capital, Brighton, is a wanker and a homo, and an outspoken TV critic who never knows when to shut his mouth.
As the storm raged on last night, Cowle was unrepentant, and said of Richardson:
"He sings out of his nose, and talks out of his arse."
