image for Alaska natural gas ignites North Slope
Alaska

Methane gasses are escaping from the permafrost on Alaska's North Slope due to Global Warming. Millions of cubic tons of natural gas was ignited by a small aircraft entering the gas pocket which was estimated to reach 5,000 feet high and covr over 2 million acres.

Three small native villages in the region were imploded and the resulting mushroom cloud, while activating Worldwide nuclear missile alerts, was seen as much as 400 miles away.

The entire Porcupine Caribou heard was baked where they stood, early reconnaissance teams have reported that the meat has a delicate, herbal flavor that would have been masked by charcoal grilling.

In response to the catastrophic explosion FEMA has sent 2,000 portable shelters into long term storage in the Arizona desert and the White House has awarded Brown, Root and Harriman a 22 Billion Dollar no bid contract to study ways to harness any future gas release.

Variety reports that this is the largest natural gas release since Madonna's last concert tour.
