image for Al Gore Establishes Greenshirts: Demands Followers Enlist and Buy Shirts.
We said green shirts, not no shirts!

In a press conference held on the site of the yet to be constructed Al Gore Presidential Library, Mr. Gore took his campaign against global warming to a higher level. Dressed in riding pants, riding boots, a stylishly cut forest green shirt and matching tie, with a Sam Brown belt across his manly chest, the charismatic Mr. Gore announced that he was creating a new organization called the GREENSHIRTS to counter the "lies and disassemblies" of the global warming deniers.

As his muscular fist pounded the podium Mr. Gore thundered to the crowd:

"The time for words is over! The deniers must be brought to see the truth! If they will not see the truth of our arguments, we must take direct action! Brass knuckles, muggings, death threats, and book burning will be the salvation of humanity! This is not a scientific issue! This is not a political issue! This is a moral issue! I demand that you join my crusade against the skeptics! Besides, you can wear buy this neat shirt and tie which you can buy at my web site for only $199.99 plus shipping and handling."

Mr. Gore was preceded by speeches given by noted global warming crusaders Elizabeth Kolbert and Tim Flannery who were dressed in similar attire. When Mr. Gore strode to the podium Ms. Kolbert and Mr. Flannery gave him the special GREENSHIRTS salute by straightening their right arms and raising them to a 30 degree angle.

Bubba Jones, an unabashed global warming skeptic in the audience, had this to say: "I ain't skeered. Not a bit. How many of them there GREENSHIRTS are members of the NRA?"
