image for Bush to force Democrats' Congress to balance budget
Someone please tell Bush this is a duck

Jan 4 Washington DC - In a dramatic u-turn, Bush has decided he does not want to bankrupt America after all. The years under his presidency saw the fastest rate of increase in the federal budget deficit the known universe had ever seen. What took four billion years to achieve Bush managed to do in four.

"This budget will restrain spending while setting priorities," Bush said, "My budget proposals no longer aim to bankrupt America."

The incoming Democratic leadership welcomed his statement, "We welcome the president's new-found commitment to a balanced budget, but his comments make us wary," John Spratt, Democrat said and added, "We can never be sure if Bush knows what he is talking about. If it looks like a duck, quakes like a duck and walks like a duck Bush will undoubtedly say that it is a chicken."

"Together, we have a chance to serve the American people by solving the complex problems that many don't expect us to tackle, let alone solve, in the partisan environment of today's Washington," Bush wrote in The Wall Street Journal. "We have a chance to but since many don't expect us to tackle, let alone solve the complex problems, we do not have to."

It certainly looks like Bush will be a lame what Bush calls a chicken the rest of his presidency.

The writer Andrew PK Yap eats both chickens and ducks or is that ducks and chickens?
