Where is Pulitzer? I want to invite him to go clubbing - Hilton

NEW YORK - The Pulitzer Prize for Public Service went for the first time this year not to journalists but to news subjects -- actor Lindsay Lohan, singer Britney Spears, and celebrity socialite Paris Hilton.

The three celebrated by staging a drunken, eye-scratching "cat fight" at "Teddy's" in the Roosevelt Hotel, each screaming that she alone deserved American print journalism's most prestigious award, according to The New York Times.

Then, their faces bleeding, their tiny skirts riding up to reveal the absence of panties, the trio kissed and hugged for the cameras. "J-Lo never achieved anything like this," said Hilton. "Where is Pulitzer? I want to invite him to go clubbing."

The Pulitzer citation read, in part: "These three young women saved American newspapers from a fiscal crisis that had threatened to destroy serious journalism in the only country that enshrines freedom of the press as a Constitutionally protected civil right."

The citation said editors discovered they could sell vastly more papers and achieve a quantum leap in online 'hits' by leading every edition with accounts of trio members partying, intoxicated, pregnant, feuding, failing at rehab, fornicating in public, stealing men, endangering themselves and others when nude, or only partly clad. The revenue generated from this coverage allowed once great newspapers to rehire staff, reopen foreign bureaus, and "engage again in serious watchdog journalism that speaks truth to power," according to the Pulitzer board.

"With conspicuous shamelessness, with complete disregard for their own safety, these three gallant souls sacrificed their dignity so that the free flow of information might live," the citation concluded.
