NORFOLK, Virginia - The People for the Experienced Touching of Animals has gotten their dander up (no pun intended).
Mimosa Ledbetter, executive director with PETA has stated that her organization did not appreciate seeing NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath on the Super Bowl Show wearing a humongous fur coat.
She commented that the weather was not even cold and that Mr. Namath just wore the coat to get attention since he has been out of the public spotlight for decades.
Mrs. Ledbetter further added that FOX Super Bowl sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Pam Oliver were both wearing regular blouses while the ex-New York Jets star looked like he was up in the North Pole.
Erin later said that Namath had gone up to her and told her that he was wearing pantyhose under his slacks.
That was a reference to a pantyhose commercial that Namath had filmed back during his NFL playing days in which he wore a pair of sheer all-nude pantyhose.
Both Andrews and Pam Oliver later revealed that the former ladies man known as "Broadway" Joe asked each one for a kiss.
Erin told him to go kiss Richard "The Trash Talker" Sherman and Pam told him to go kiss game announcer Joe Buck up in the announcing booth.
SIDENOTE: PETA is very upset with the fur coat-wearing Mr. Namath and has named him their Inconsiderate Human for the Month of February.
