PORT MATILDA, PA -(AP) - A small town mayor in Pennsylvania missed the August deadline for taking his name off the ballot for an upcoming mayoral election. No one is running in opposition to him. The 70 year old man who is the current mayor is running his campaign on the platform "Don't Vote For Me."
The campaign has created quite a stir in the small community.
"That is one of the most humble campaigns that I have ever seen in politics during my 73 years on this earth," states a local resident, "usually you hear mudslinging, scandalous accusations, and just general vindictiveness. We're not getting any of that here."
Another resident said, "Well, the mayor did kind of say some mean things about himself a couple of times, but I'm not gonna hold it against him. I'm definitely voting for him."
Polls are showing that the mayor is currently favored by a historically wider margin than any candidates ever before in past elections.
