Ocean City - Green-colored laser pointers have become recently popular, especially among youth. Reports state that vendor's on Ocean City's boardwalk have sold over 30,000 of the items over the summer. They have increasingly become a public nuisance item.
Local businesses have filed many complaints with the city as a result of complaints that they have received from tourists in the area. The tourists complaint about meals being interuppted by wily youth shining the laser beams at drinks and nachos.
Cat owners have complained of finding difficulty in walking their cats because of feline propensity to chase small objects including laser lights.
A ban was enacted by city council against shining laser pointers on others in 1998 when red laser pointer pens became a nuisance. State officials have passed the same ban.
So, currently, no red or green laser pointers are allowed to be used in public within the city limits.
If you decide to use a yellow laser pointer, proceed with caution.
