Convicted mobster Whitey Bulger will seek a retrial based on his assertion that his lawyers failed to introduce evidence that would have resulted in his acquittal. Bulger says that his defense team refused to present any of the "very small gloves" that were found at each of the 11 murder scenes.
According to Whitey, there was a misunderstanding with the police evidence room during the trial. The box with the gloves appeared after the officer in charge of the evidence room had "an unfortunate accident and is now departed". A replacement officer reportedly found the box containing the gloves "while walkin' to the terlet".
Bulger said he offered to try the gloves on, as part of the defense's exhibit. His lead attorney would not go along, and insisted on painting Bulger as a low-level crime figure guilty of only minor offenses.
Bulger says he will seek a new trial, just as soon as he disposes of his current defense team.
