WASHINGTON, D.C. - Now that the states of Colorado and Washington have voted to legalize marijuana, word coming out of Congress is that they will be considering a bill that will place a tax on pot.
Senator Shelia P. Fluckaminski [R-Arizona] will be introducing a senate bill which will place a Federal excise tax of $49 per ounce on cannabis.
The senator from Arizona stated that such a tax could generate as much as $20.2 billion a year.
Senator Wagner B. Middlekittle [D-Colorado] quickly moved to have the bill tabled saying that the only people who should be allowed to vote on taxing pot are the citizens of Colorado and Washington.
Senator Fluckaminski replied by saying that it's not fair that so many young Arizona citizens are leaving her state and moving to the Rocky Mountain State simply because of the ability to smoke marijuana until the cows come home.
SIDENOTE: President Obama was asked to make a comment on the Tax On Pot Bill. He smiled as he took a bite out of his Double Pepperoni Pizza and replied that he will be delegating the matter to Vice-President Joe Biden.
