Rick Steves, the author and host of PBS travel show Rick Steves' Europe, has become lost and disoriented in a Costco parking lot, according to authorities.
"Mr. Steves was able to make contact with us on his cell phone, and we are currently in the process of trying to track his whereabouts," said police lieutenant Grover Pfungull. "He's not injured, he's wearing warm clothing and if we can't locate him tonight, he plans to take shelter under a parked Hyundai.
Pfungull said Steves called 9-1-1 about three o'clock this afternoon. "He said he had gone shopping at Costco and was pushing the cart to his car when he realized he was lost. He was very scared and anxious but we sang the Irish ballad "The Snowy Breasted Pearl" with him a few times over the phone and that seemed to calm him down.
Police said that while they're optimistic they'll find Steves, they also asked the public to be on the lookout for him, adding, "He has reddish-blond hair, wears glasses, and has a cart filled with a rotisserie chicken, 24 rolls of toilet paper, four pounds of frozen tilapia and a 37 inch flat screen TV."
