Following Friday's announcement that Hostess Brands was shuttering its facilities and ceasing operations, sales of the company's flagship product, Twinkies, have increased 10 fold - with some paying up to $550 for just one crème filled cake.
Twinkies, the snack most preferred by potheads when experiencing the "munchies" have been a staple of drug fueled food binges since 1955 and the peak in price and sales, after the announcement Hostess was closing its doors is due entirely to pot smokers, stocking up on the snack to satisfy their food cravings while "buzzing".
Some pot users though are confused, well, dazed and confused.
"I don't understand. Some states just legalized marijuana. Which I think means more people are probably likely to smoke some weed. You would have thought that Hostess would have kept on going, you know maybe working with the legalized dope sellers, maybe offering combo packs of pot and Twinkies. Seems to me like they are missing out on a great business concept and closing down at exactly the wrong time."
The closing of Hostess Brands will not only see a shortfall in post drug use snacks but will also mean 18,000 more highly skilled American's entering the job market.
