"Romney steps in it again," the headline read this morning in The Washington Post. "Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse," states the sub-title. Evidently the Post and other media were reacting to a hastily called press conference called by the candidate himself to explain his reaction to the Libya crisis. His aides had not been informed of this decision and leaks emanating from the campaign report the staff was furious.
Journalists at the lightly attended press conference report that Governor Romney began by saying, "I thought they said labia about the crisis this week." Apparently several journalists stifled laughs as a few others groaned in dis-believe. Reporters say Romney was oblivious to their reactions and continued:
"Naturally I was reticent to sticking my nose in somebody else's business." Several of those in attendance laughed thinking it was a joke and they were viewing another Clint Eastwood moment done to amuse the traveling press corps. Romney continued:
"Of course I knew the colored guy would mishandle it and I tried to get ahead of the story. Believe you me, I've had some trouble myself with the old tibia and a few run a rounds with brother coccyx but I'm damn well not going to stick my nose into someone else's Libya!"
