BILLINGSGATE POST - I suppose if it didn't happen at a party hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and the guests weren't predominantly card carrying gay and lesbian Democrats, President Obama's joke about Michelle not going all the way down on Ms. DeGeneres might have stayed above the belt.
President Obama: "I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in push-ups," he said, according to a White House transcript.
"But I think she claims Michelle didn't go all the way down."
Now, there are many ways to interpret this quite salacious punch line. Despite the White House's a posteriori reactions, most reporters say that Obama carried the punch line for the anticipated laugh that it received.
To the casual observer of White House sexual mores, this joke does not smoulder as much as the cigar that Slick Willie Clinton lit-up after damping it down in Monica Lewinsky's humidor, but it comes close.
Perhaps the TelePrompter just went totally berzerk like it did when President Obama mispronounced "corpsman" three different times. Something should be held accountable for these errors. It couldn't have been the responsibility of the President.
