Ashley Olsen is now an official member of the prestigious Clanton 14 street gang from Los Angeles. She has a new job as an Ambassador for the oldest street gang in Los Angeles.
According to her publicist Olsen joined the gang after dating one of the gang's female members who goes by the gang name of "Little Lezzy." In a statement Olsen said, "I just like the team aspect of it, they're my second family."
It's not been confirmed if she experienced a gang initiation ritual where new female members show their loyalties to the gang by having to fight three or four female gang members.
Olsen may have opted for a lesbian initiation ritual which is not as harsh. A lesbian style gang initiation requires the new members to pleasure several female gang members who have seniority. A gang initiation shows that a new member can take pain for the gang.
Olsen's sister told E-Celebrity News that Ashley Olsen now goes by the official gang name of "Olsenboye."
According to research on female gang members, poor home life, a search for an identity, and a search for social interaction and belonging are the main reasons girls join gangs. Many girls who do not have a loving home or support structure seek it outside of the home in hopes that the gang will be their surrogate family. This is exemplified in the observation that, "gang members refer to one another as 'sisters' or 'homegirls" and to the gang as a 'family'... which conjure the sense of belonging and identification"
In addition to seeking a family, these girls search for a sense of identity and have a need for group support and cohesiveness, which they seek to find in gangs.
Clanton 14 Street, also known as "C14 St." is the oldest street gang in Los Angeles, California. Clanton 14 was created in 1921 on Clanton Street in Los Angeles, California, during World War II. Los Angeles renamed Clanton Street to 14th Street, which is why they are called Clanton 14. Anyone that joins the gang is said to be part of it's vintage and prestige.
Gang members were originally known as "Pachuco" who dressed in zoot suit attire.
A zoot suit has high-waisted, wide-legged, tight-cuffed pegged trousers, and a long coat with wide lapels and wide padded shoulders. Often zoot suiters wear a felt hat with a long feather and pointy, French-style shoes. Zoot suits usually featured a watch chain dangling from the belt to the knee or below, then back to a side pocket. Zoot suit wearers' dates often wore flared skirts and long coats.
In Britain the bright-coloured suits with velvet lapels worn by Teddy Boys bore a strong resemblance to zoot suits.
