Washington--Republicans like Herman Cain, because it shows that even a rich black man can be accepted as one of them.
"See, we aren't racists, we like Herman Cain." Rush Limbaugh said. "He is just like us, rich and smart, unlike those dimwitted liberals who think government should spend some of their tax payer money on helping the poor. What do they think? The government should be more like Jesus. Idiots."
Other Republicans were quick to point out that they were never a bunch of racist, and that they just hate the poor and middle class. It never had anything to do with race that Republicans tried everything in the book to get rid of every social program that might help the poor and middle class.
"I think people take it the wrong way when a group Republicans push through an agenda that punishes a certain race and push through legislation to unjustly punish them with long jail sentences. That is just hogwash." Senator Mitch McConnell said.
Herman Cain is also downplaying Republicans history of holding down the poor and disfranchised as nothing more than liberal brainwashing, perpetrated by mass media.
