In Texas back in May, as thousands of teachers prepared to be layed off due to budget cuts Sen. Bob Deuell said he's never noodled, but that the bill needed to be passed for the "noodlers of Texas."
What is noodling? It is simply one of the more bizarre forms of fishing known to mankind. It actually has many forms and parts. Part one is to use any appendage from your body in the water to attract fish. Part two grab the fish with your bare hands. Part Three, and this is the most recent addition, use one of those three foot long floating foam "noodles" to beat your fish into submission.
Governor Rick Perry was so impressed by the new sport he decided to try it first hand with a guide on Lake Georgetown.
Marty Spillaney of Dallas lead the expedition, "The Gov. was keen on getting down and dirty with a large catfish, so we took him back near the dam where some of the biggest hang out. What surprised me was how interested the Governor was in trying the skinny dipping method. He had his clothes off in nothing flat!"
"Then I spotted one off the bow rolling over near the shoreline and Ricky jumped in. Next thing I know he claims he is waving his thing at the fish. I told him I don't think you want to do that, just use a finger. Well it sort of sounded like several school girls screaming at the same time, but he sure did wrestle that thing! Lucky for the Governor I was able to gaf that fish and open up his stomach, or he'd of never got his thing back. It tried to jump overboard but my crew beat with their foam noodles and all was okay. We had to go to the hospital after that."
Governor Perry signed the measure into law back in May. He is said to be considering options to add hand grenades to the sport. Mrs. Perry could not be reached for comment.
