London - The human frights lawyer has been tipped to head a judicial commission into News of the World phone hacking it was announced today.
"Cherry tricks all the boxes for impartiality," a Justice Ministry person said at lunchtime.
"Besides, she's so well connected any gaps in er, stuff, can be easily sorted by her husband's hitmen - er...unique legal knowledge!
"Also she's free at the moment to take on the onerous task - at the usual Justice Ministry-approved pay scale of two grand an hour."
Dame Cherry easily pipped judicial inquiry stalwart Lord Hutton, famous for his Dr David Kelly RIP ruling.
Official parameters of her role are yet to be decided but may focus on what her former, dear friend Hillary Clinton once described as a 'vast right wing conspiracy' during the Lewinsky impeachment business.
Critics of the proposed appointment are not entirely convinced, however, on various cronyism grounds.
