Cigar-chuffing, big chair-sitting and former top Radio 1 DJ, Sir Jimmy Savile, has finally crossed the finishing line on London's Mall, following his completion of the London Marathon 2005!
Crowds of at one point, up to two, turned out to see the veteran come to the end of his ordeal of extreme endurance; although for some ten minutes there was considerable confusion over whether the veteran runner had actually crossed the line. City of Westminster council operatives had rubbed it out weeks ago when it was thought there were no more finishers, so it was suggested that the already knackered Leeds born nut-job ran an extra three hundred yards just in case.
An hour later, having recovered a little and looking resplendent in a lime green and canary yellow shiny shell suit, Savile held court.
"Now then, now then, hazzabathat then," quipped the octogenarian when recounting some of the highlights of his run. Before adding, "Awa-awa-ah, young man, young man, now then now then."
Sir Jim was in defiant mood when it was put to him that perhaps as it took him over six years to complete the course, then maybe he ought to consider hanging up his trainers for good.
"Goodness gracious, good-ness gracious, now then, now then, as it 'appens, clunk clik every trip. Awa-awa-ah!," he said before awarding himself his own Jim Fixed it for me medal
Loveable Sir Jim's one time colleague and fellow Radio 1 jock, The Hairy Cornflake aka DLT, was believed to be resigning live on-air again for the 20th time in his long career, and sadly was unable to join in with the bonkers Knight's post-race celebrations.
