After days of rumour and speculation it has been announced in Tripoli that LibDem leader and Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg has defected to the Libyans
The tale that Clegg had gone to Libya to broker a deal with Gaddafi was finally abandoned when Clegg appeared on Libyan TV and in a rambling incoherent speech gave his undying allegiance to the Colonel.
David Cameron, recovering from the shock of Clegg's departure, blamed students who had upset Clegg by calling him a liar. 'No one can live through that sort of ordeal without great damage being done' Cameron explained.
It is thought that Gaddafi will find Clegg amenable to his discipline as he has become adept at agreeing with everything a more powerful person says.
Vince Cable has taken over as Deputy PM but is already in trouble after a 'News of the World' reporter, posing as a Libyan rebel, was told by Vince that the rebels should deal with Clegg in the same way as they deal with Gaddafi.
