Fourteen couples in Thailand are to compete for the longest kiss on Valentine's day. The winning couple will get £2000 and a diamond ring worth £1000.
However to get the prize the couples have to prepared to to lock their lips together at all times, even when drinking through a straw. They also have to keep kissing when they go to the toilet.
The current world record, achieved in Germany is for a 32 hour kiss, which streches well beyond Valentine's Day and has been classed by the Human Rights Commission as torture.
Cherry Pie a contestant in Thailand said; 'If you kiss one thing can lead to another and maybe I'll keep boyfriend this time.'
A young man Felix Catt remarked that kissing was good for your health and it was a good way of getting to know someone.
However police have been alerted as in previous contests people have gone beyond kissing and have committed acts of public indecency.
The organisers declared 'This is all good fun and we hope to get a worthy winner who will show the world that Thailand is a country of love.'
