Taken in by a notorious conman Cherie's property portfolio soon flourished

Bristol - (Smoke N Mirrors): His property portfolio seems entirely kosher, untainted by fraud such as the Cheriegate block blighted by scammer Peter Foster.

This weekend Canynge Road neighbors recalled how Chris Jefferies very nearly invested in The Panoramic, the Bristol apartments that outed chump Mrs Blair.

"Chris had a very lucky escape from that dreadful business," local cleaning woman Rhona Rabbish commented today.

"He'd been on the point of sinking all his hard-earned loot when the Cherie scandal broke on the gog.

"Fortunately, just one look at Cherie's bravura performance was enough to convince him the Panoramic was hexed."

Jefferies eventually bought the garden flat below his own after the incumbent resident was convicted in some sort of sordid paedo scam.

Jo Yeates' senseless and still unexplained death in that very property sees the ex-public school teacher still on police bail as a suspect in the complex probe.

Pals say he's innocent and will soon be cleared in the probe to charge Vincent Tabak's alleged accomplice.

Peter Foster is 69.
