image for Supermarket lays on biggest ever Christmas dinner for 230,000 staff
Yummmmmy!

Tesco has spared no expense to treat its staff to a wonderful Christmas dinner this year, all 230,000 of them, including cleaners and shelf-stackers.

150,000 lbs of turkey was purchased from Asda, 100,000 lbs of potatoes were purchased from Penrith outdoor market (Lake District), 13,000 1kg packets of frozen corn and 13,000 kg packets of frozen peas were purchased from Iceland (shops), 13,000 packets of frozen sliced carrots were purchased from Lidl and the 10,000 pints of turkey gravy was hand-made from scratch by the ladies of the Newby Women's Institute, Isle of Wight. It was ferried across to the mainland and delivered to Tesco stores by Royal Mail vans.

When organizers were asked why they didn't use the products they sell in their own chain of stores the answer was,

"Coz its all cheap crap - and we wanted to REALLY say thank you to our loyal employees by giving them a 'right good do'."

Diners were reported to be extremely pleased with the much improved quality of this years' Christmas Dinner.
