Anybody travelling around our fine island these days can't but be impressed by the prosperity to be seen to and from the big cities to the country and sea to shore.
Long-time residents who used to have to walk to school and leave their studies at a young age to go to work know the things have improved for the better while we still have the natural beauty to treasure for all.
The tourists come here in droves, and we love them for it. I for one hope they keep coming. It keeps the shop keepers happy and the wheels of commerce turning. We are better off for it but what about our leadership?
Where are our tax dollars going?
Anyone driving in our island roads can't help be shocked by the high level of grass in our ditches. This is not the way ditches used to be kept on the island in years past; you used to be able to walk for miles along our ditches just for pleasure on weekends with much wildlife to be seen. It will not be long before accidents will be happening at crossroads due to lack of vision caused by lack of mowing our ditches.
Is this progress?
