Boris Johnson's campaign to Ban the Year 2013 got an unexpected boost last night after he received a phone call from someone claiming to be Miley Cyrus. She said she wanted to join his campaign and was willing to sing a song about it.
The news reached Boris as a riot raged all around him in Central London. He was taking worried phone call after worried phone call about the Civil unrest and then out of the blue along came a little ray of sunshine.
Associates of Boris say he was so stunned by the phone call that he forgot all about the riots and made a new protest placard instead. It said "Ban the Year 2013 for Miley Cyrus". He called it his happy Placard and covered it in sequins and glitter.
He decided early on in its creation that it was important that it was very sparkly because he wanted to attract the attention of the people he met in the riot when he joined them.
And when he did go out into the midst of the chaos the placard worked a charm. Very soon afterwards all the student rioters were't just shouting to "Ban Nick Clegg" anymore, they were shouting "Ban the Year 2013."
Boris was said to be very happy indeed. The story continues, and shall continue until the year 2013 is renamed 2012b.
