Bob lives in Milton Keynes and is cared for by his mother, Ethel. Bob suffered terrible birth defects during his mother's somewhat difficult pregnancy. He is now 35 years old.
Bob was born with no arms, no legs, no mouth, no ears and only one eye, in which he is blind. Bob is deaf and mute.
In order to maintain the integrity of his skin, Bob spends all of his time, when he is not sleeping, in a specially made floatation tank. Leonard Cohen songs are played to him, in the hope he may one day hear something.
Bob does not have any friends and does not really do much in the way of activities or hobbies. Fortunately for him, he cannot even endure daytime TV.
Bob's mother gets him up in the morning, puts on his wetsuit and pops him in his floatation tank, where he happily bobs about. She dutifully asks him what he would like for breakfast. Bob does not repsond. And there ends another day of social interaction for Bob.
