Sitting. Waiting. Anticipating.

"Look at that cat sitting on the mat". - These were the words on everyones lips today after the spectacular sight that confronted them this morning.

Tiddles the cat surprised everyone in town by doing the most unfathomable thing: sitting on a mat.

"I was shell-shocked", said a fisherman, "I have been catching fish on the high seas for many years and had a cabin cat that could play the fiddle....but I have never seen such a sight as this on land. Arrrr!"

One eyewitness said Tiddles seemed to appear out of nowhere and that the whole thing happened in less than twenty seconds.

"She is like a phantom. A stealthy phantom from the deepest recesses of the human psyche", she said, "If I was blind I probably would not believe what I saw".

Oink oink oink oink snorty-snort oink oink

The cat - a 4-year old tortoiseshell with a warm heart and a love of annoying grey rodents - had never before displayed such bizarre behaviour.

Until now.

And there may be more to come.

Halloween is several months away but many townspeople think that Tiddles will ride a witches broom. To Heaven.

Peoples belief in spirituality has been boosted by the startling event.

"It has reinforced my belief in the supernatural, otherworldly and incredible", said an astonished middle-aged shop-owner, "I haven't played with my magic set since I was 8-years old...but today I took it out for the first time and did a card trick.".

Tiddles the cat refused to explain her actions. She simplyly licked her paws and groomed her fur.

It is probably for the best because we could never fully comprehend the intricacies of the mind of a house cat.

House on fire!

Oink oink.
