In extracts from his new book, former labour spin doctors, Peter Mandelson, points to a bizarre "love triangle" between himself and the former prime minister Tony Blair and chancellor Gordon Brown.
It has been alleged that difficulties in the relationship between the former prime minister and chancellor was due to jealousy from Mr Brown when he discovered the Labour prince of Darkness in a Monica Lewinski situation under the desk of the former PM.
"Gordon was always the jealous type," alleges Mandleson. "The only reason he wanted the top job was that he thought the power would impress me and he could win me from Tony"
"Gordon even threatened us with DNA testing of my trousers AKA Ms Lewinski. It was really the reason that he become the premier unchallenged, the labour party could not risk such an embarrassment at the time."
It has also been revealed that comic genius Mat Lucas modelled his famous little Britain character Sebastian on Mandleson.
"It was after a visit to number 10," Mandy laughs. "Tony and I used to watch the programme together and laugh. It was very accurate. We used to joke "if only the public knew!"
