Prof Liberace suggests Poof

Public relations experts have moved into Spoof offices in a rebranding exercise.

Mark Spoof after whom The Spoof is named holds the opinion that there is a future in a name change and has been considering several suggestions from the PR panel.

The titles under consideration are Poof, Poo, P Off, Oof, Foops and Whoop.

Everything is up for grabs. Meetings are planned sometime or other when those who contribute to the esteemed title can have a vote.

This vote will not be on the first past the post system but on the alternative vote alternative. You can place your preferred title as 1 and then 2,3,4,5 and 6.

Those who want to keep things as they are can request to be on the next rebranding committee; those with alternative choices can write them in the space provided, providing you can find it.

Mark Spoof commented: 'It is time to leave my name out of it and the rebranding exercise gives us all a chance to establish a new coat of paint.'

Here are a few words about each suggested names:

Poof - This idea emerged from a queery by Prof Liberace, Poof Emeritus of Linguistics at Queensland University. He asked why the word Proof, representing the accuracy of the stories on the site, couldn't be combined with Prof, representing the learned nature of the title, in the word Poof.

Poo - This suggestion has some keen support behind it.

P off - There is a certain comic charm in this suggestion from those whose taps are out of action.

Oof - This word conveys, to some, an impression of comedy.

Foops - This is a somewhat backward suggestion.

Whoop - This word has already been claimed by John Lanchester as in Whoop! Why everyone owes everyone and no one can pay .

So, it is over to you. Your vote could make all the difference.

Make j.w.'s day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
