Ballygobackwards Co Clare. - The sleepy village of Ballygobackwards woke this morning to the glare of the media. Television crews and journalists descended on the little Irish village. The reason for all this attention was the reported vision of Christ on the cross that appeared on the backside of a sheep.
The ewe in question was a 4 year old called Doris and was discovered by Farmer Billy o'Dell whilst he was tending his flock. Farmer O'Dell told waiting pressmen that he was sitting down eating his lunch thinking there are some nice sheep backsides when he noticed Doris the sheep in question and saw the figure of Christ on the cross on Doris's rear.
The surprised farmer ran to see Father O'Donnell to tell him but he was rebuffed and told to go home and sober up. He then saw Sgt Mickey Keegan of the Garda who notified the relevant organisations. Within hours the village was full of pilgrims from all over Ireland.
The Vatican has been informed and his Holiness the Pope is due to visit within the next two days.
A Vatican Spokesman said this ranks as highly as the Turin Shroud
