34 Year old Manchester United right back, Gary Neville has admitted he would be interested in joining fierce rivals Liverpool if they could match his wages.
"A lot of quotes have been attributed to me, which simply are not true", explained the Manchester United club captain.
"I never said I hate scousers, this is all simply a propaganda campaign against me. If Wes Brown and Rafael are ahead of me in the pecking order, and Liverpool's top right back (Glen Johnson) is injured, I would happily make the 40 mile trip across to Mersyside and join the Reds. People assume because I insult Liverpool and am portrayed as a brown nose to Alex Ferguson that I don't have feelings of my own".
The 34 year old then went on to say that he would relish the challenge of pleasing Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez. "People say Fergie is harsh, but I am sure it is nothing in comparison to being told off by Rafa. My mate Yossi Benayoun told me that even if you have a cracking game you are likely to be dropped or subbed off early for the next one. That is the kind of tough love I really want in a manager."
Representatives of Liverpool F.C were not available for comment on the story, but inside sources have claimed negotiations are underway for a possible transfer in January.
