A man has spoken of his relief after failing to come home to his wife last night, because he was hypnotised by famous illusionist Derren Brown.
Brown is in hot water again following his Lottery illusion.
He enacted his latest trick on Channel 4 last night, during which he hypnotised millions of viewers so that they would become stuck to their sofas for the duration of the show.
A release tone was played at the end of the hour long programme which ended a trance-like state many people said they normally experienced on a Friday night anyway.
But one man, Jack Laradd, suffered an adverse reaction after unwittingly falling under Brown's spell, while enjoying a night out with friends in the local boozer.
Sadie Laradd, 47, from East Midlands, said alarm bells rang when her husband failed to return home after telling her he was going for night out to take part in the local Spearmint Rhino darts tournament.
Jack, 38, was posted missing at 8am but returned home soon afterwards.
And his explanation, though plausible, is truly bizarre.
Jack said: "I was at Spearmint Rhino keeping my head down with a double top in mind when suddenly I found myself becoming increasingly paralysed from the waist down.
"I sat there and watched without a care in the world as my pals had a right old time. They left without me. I could not get out of my seat. That Derren Brown was on the telly in the corner and I was mesmerised by what I was seeing. I woke up in the morning and came home sharpish."
Sadie added: "He was a little sheepish and when I dipped his pockets I found someone had beat me to it. His week's wages were gone."
Broadcasting watchdog, Broad dog, is to investigate.
