image for Factual Website Of The Year - TheSpoof.com Edged Out By Sky News
A Spoof Writer Contemplating The Future Yesterday.

TheSpoof.com was narrowly pipped at the post last night by Sky News in the Best Factual Website Of The Year category at the fifteenth annual Best Website Awards at the Troll and Lantern Hotel in the West End of Glasgow.

A visibly elated Mark Lowton was seen grinning all over his face and giving the thumbs up sign to a motley collection of ne'er do wells, reputed to be TheSpoof.com's top writers.

Lowton told us:

"This is the ultimate spoof. These fools think TheSpoof.com is a genuine news site, and there's no greater compliment to a spoofer than that. We came out ahead of Yahoo, Fox, all the leading daily newspaper sites and the Onion, which, considering we only ever tell complete lies is quite a tribute."

Adam Boulton commiserated with the spoof mob, admitting that it was only access to millions of pounds worth of technology worldwide, and a dedicated team of researchers that had given Sky the edge.

Kay Burley said that she felt honoured to have gotten one over on such a prestigious rival, adding that she was really looking forward to TheSpoof.com's star-studded Star Trek collaboration extravaganza conceived by BuckwheatsButt and championed by Jalapenoman, currently up and running in the magazine section of the site.

In order to boost TheSpoof.com's financial profile, a spoof writer proposed a premium line phone in quiz with really shit prizes which could be fiddled with at will, like MP's expenses.

Management have promised to look into it by launching a feasibility study.

More as we get it.

Make Skoob1999's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
