image for Chancellor To Reduce Debt Burden With Help From Nigeria

Chancellor Alistair Darling has announced in a bold move he is to reduce the considerable UK borrowing requirement by enlisting the help of high ranking Nigerian Government and bank officials.

It is understood Mr Darling has been emailed by numerous well respected figures in the Nigerian civil service and banking community who all seem to be struggling with large sums of money, thought to run into millions of pounds, that they cannot access, for reasons too complex to explain at this juncture.

The Chancellor has opened communication with a number of these African luminaries with a view to receiving extraordinarily large sums of money for his assistance. "It appears I have to provide certain funds in advance, but the benefit for the tax payer will be immense." He told us. "The amount I will bring to the exchequer dwarfs even my expense claim. Gordon will be pleased."

Dr A Conn of the Nigerian Emailers Co-operative, said "We are delighted to help your impoverished country. We know you have a growing population. There's one born every minute, as you say."
