Jack Straw, the current Minister for Justice in the UK, has confirmed that Guernsey is to be converted to a Prison Island.
In a project being jointly run between the UK and French Governments, the island will commence its new life from January 1st 2010.
60 foot walls will be erected around the island's perimeter, and the only access to the island will be via a boat into a secure harbour. Turrets will be manned around the island with an order to shoot immediately at any boats approaching the island without the correct identification.
The likely inhabitants of the new Prison Island will be the most vicious violent criminals from the 2 nations.
The issue faced by the 2 Governments though, is the 65,000 inhabitants of the island. However Jack Straw suggested that each of them would be offered a fair value for their homes before being chased off the island by the British Army should they refuse to sell their homes.
