Following the French blockade of channel ports in protest over something or other, reports are coming to light that an English based writer for a popular spoof website which can't be named here for legal reasons, joined in a protest march in Paris some three years ago.
CCTV footage clearly shows the man in question walking along the banks of the Seine, quite close to Notre Dame Cathedral, Isle De La Cite, with his wife.
Crossing a pont up ahead were several thousand French protesters waving flags and banners and shouting things in French.
Inexplicably, the mad Englishman and his wife joined in with the marchers, who were headed for the Bastille. We couldn't contact the mad Englishman but we managed to contact his wife, Mrs S. She told us:
"We were just walking along during a weekend break and we saw these marchers. He told me it was something to do with pensions and before I knew it we were in the middle of the march. He soon cooled on the idea though because Bastille is quite a long way from Isle De La Cite. So he dragged me off to a bar."
Damian McBride is said to be investigating the outrage.
