image for US Still Doubtful About Existence of David Beckham
One of the few pictures of Beckham....as it's a drawing, many Americans question if he did exist. Even more question whether he was the savior.

Toronto, AP (June 22, 2004)

In rather shocking news for Brits whose lives depend on reading and/or writing for tabloids, Americans really have no idea who David Beckham is or whether or not he actually exists.

Said John Barenger of The Star, "This is extremely disgusting. We've supported Americans through everything including the current Iraq situation and through their IT couple, Bennifer. Yet, they have no idea that Posh Spice and David Beckham are married. In fact, many think that Posh is dead."

David Beckham, who seems to exist in front of English cameras, anyway, stated that America's hatred for soccer may have led to him not having any fame.

"It sucks because over here I play soccer and I'm attractive. But America has a lot of attractive guys and real sports. How am I supposed to compete with that?"

John Barenger: "It's just plain crazy, but this really shows the American attitude. They love to believe in nonexistent items such as Weapons of Mass Destruction or OJ's innocence, yet despite heaps of evidence, they won't believe that Ali G did a hilarious interview with Posh and Becks. In fact, they refuse to believe that any of these people exist."

Despite a film called Bend It Like Beckham, most Americans that viewed it somehow came out of the theater thinking Beckham was some sort of cheese and meat mixture that only the Brits would eat.
