French tennis superstar and professional Cassius Clay look-a-like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga caused absolutely no controversy at all yesterday when he said Carol Thatcher looked like a "scruffy rag doll".
Tsonga was appearing on the unpopular French TV show 'Le Un Spectacle' along with fellow French tennis superstar Richard Gasquet when they were asked to team up together against members of the audience in a competition.
They were shown pictures of various people and were asked to guess who was the offspring of various world leaders past and present. The pair were going well when they correctly guessed the Bush twins but came unstuck when shown a picture of Mark and Carol Thatcher - It was at this point when Tsonga admitted he did not have a clue who the pair were but said "she looks like a scruffy rag doll my sister had when she was younger".
The real controversy in the show came when the pair again struggled, this time to identify a picture of Euan Blair - Gasquet said he did not know what world leader "would have a son who looks like a ferret with a bum fluff moustache". It was at this point another guest on the show - the rotund 'comedienne' Jeanne Brandiene walked out in apparent disgust.
Gasquet was unavailable for comment last night but his agent said the player had "no plans to apologise to any ferret".
