The British parliament last night passed the bill to become the 51st state of the United States of America. Gordon Brown, the British PM, hasn't yet been able to deliver an official address to the nation/state because he has been busy receiving congratulatory calls from leaders all around the world.
The leaked phone records of the Ethiopian President to Gordon have received a considerable political and literary interest. The Ethiopian leader reportedly said, "Yo Gordon, congrats man. All my neighbouring countries and we have been trying to get the American statehood for so long. You did well for yourself man." Gordon Brown's reply to this call didn't get out.
The development might just help to kick-start the failing British economy. A huge rise in sales has been reported of certain commodities like burgers, handguns, Coke & Pepsi, Simpsons DVDs and British to American dictionaries.
Some resentment was reported within certain quarters (notably Prince Philip) regarding the Queen's status. The Buckingham Palace has finally confirmed that the Queen shall be re-crowned as the Queen of Britain50one, which shall be the country's new American name. To commemorate her crowning ceremony, the Queen has announced one full year of gladiatorial fights for her people, which incidentally would also be of and by her people.
