The next series of Countdown will see the long-awaited return of Jade Goody to our TV screens. She will be replacing the current presenter Carol Vorderman who was sensationally sacked last month for demanding £10 million a year when everyone else is having to cut back.
Miss Goody, not exactly famous for her mathematical abilities is undaunted by the challenge. Giving and exclusive interview in The Sun yesterday she said "The word game is easy, all I have to do is pick the letters up and put them on the rack. Someone is going to the the sums for me though, and I'll just write the answers down. If you have the right people working for you - you can justify anything"
Countdown attracts a regular audience of over 300 people and is one of Channel 4's top rated shows. A spokesman for the programme said "Countdown survived the death of Richard Whitely, so replacing a mint sauce thief like Carol will be easy".
Jade, who is 27 said "I'm going to take a really simple approach to making maths seem a whole lot more difficult".
