Duncan Whitehead, the writer on the satirical news site TheSpoof.com, has come under fire from members of the Hull City Psychos Literary Wing, after comments he made about the Tigers on the site were deemed "derogatory".
Whitehead wrote that, likely as not, Hull would not gain any points at all next season, and that fans of the club are "soft as shit". It's this latest comment that has upset the Psychos, and prompted a scathing retort.
Leading literary experts amongst the Psychos have rubbished Whitehead's claims, and say that there is just no truth in them.
One, Tom Courtenay, a leading 'troublemaker', said:
"For a long time, I read Whitehead, but this latest outburst has shaken my faith in him. Much of his material is brilliant, but I believe only a knock on the head could have resulted in this kind of piffle."
Bingo enthusiast, Maureen Lipman, told me:
"It's posturing and grandstanding rhetoric. A lot of points-grabbing twaddle. Whitehead is a writer going off the rails. His al-Qaeda puppy story was the pinnacle of his career, but I imagine this is the beginning of the end. It's sad to see this kind of thing happen to a scribbler of his calibre."
