Global warming is being blamed for a new freak occurrence that was noticed first in western Europe and now seems to be spreading across the globe.

First, reports from Britain's Jodrell Bank observatory show that stars observed by their 25m radio telescope are 'disappearing'. A technical glitch was discounted when stories started coming in from the public.

Mr Simon Hudson "It was late evening and I had just left the pub when I noticed that there were no stars on one side of the sky. I thought it was just cloud cover but then realised it was a clear night. It was just like a dark blanket being drawn across the sky".

Further reports from across Europe have prompted the British government to issue the following press statement. "The Public are in no danger, we have alerted the armed forces and specialist UNIT and SAS teams are being deployed. There is no need for Panic."

This reporter has learned that there will be an exclusive report to be transmitted on BBC1 on the 31st May. In the meantime be warned The Darkness is Coming.

Make Megatron's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
