image for Brown announces new hydrogen levy

Gordon Brown today revealed the government's plans to place a levy on Hydrogen. The abundant gas, used by millions each day is to be taxed at 40p per kilo. The levy will be back dated to roman times and current generations will be forced to pay for their ancestors.

The new 'stealth' tax will apply to most things in life including key resources such as water and air.
In a speech from Downing Street today - Gordon Brown said "This gas is a threat to our way of life. We are implementing a basic levy on Hydrogen to help ensure that the world does not implode due to a lack of the atmospheric gas".

He went on to say "We encourage the public to start accounting accurately now in anticipation for the new tax. On or around April 1st each year, every person in the UK will be required to submit a detailed breakdown of every breath they have taken during the year and every glass of water they have consumed."

It is widely expected that the cost to the average household will be in the region of £30,000 per annum. We went to question Mr Brown each day this week at his 650 million square foot office in Central London, however the building was empty due to new the new work / life balance laws.
