In a blatant attempt at trying to make something out of a non-event, British newspapers today suggested that an inflation rate of 2% was an unbelievably dangerous and devastating threat.
Speaking from his holiday villa in Benibore, The Daily Mail's deputy dawgsbody, Mr. Henry Himmler, said: 'An inflation rate of 2% will bring about mass unemployment, nervous breakdowns, and the complete collapse of civilisation, unless my holiday lasts for another 2 weeks.'
And The Grauniad's deputy office boy, Tony Blair, added: 'Um.'
But City analysts were less pessimistic, and said: 'Blah blah blah blah blah. Can I interest you in IOC shares?'
All together, a rate of 2% could mean the price of a loaf of bread will go up by £3, according to consumers' watchlacky, Offrip, but at least Reichschancellor Alistair Darling will make another trillion by next Thursday.
Nobody was available for comment from the Conservative Party, as it ceased to exist three years ago.
David Cameron leaves school next week.
