image for Doctor Who To Continue With Smaller Budget
The replacement to the TARDIS.

Shortly after the BBC's announcement, which said that doctor who will have a fifth series in 2010, but no 2009 series except for several specials, they made a further announcement of budget reductions.

The special effect budget for the show will be reduced by ninety nine percent, meaning that they can only have one really good explosion, or a half good writhing sort of slimy monster.

To counter this measure the production team has bought two hundred children from deprived areas of England, who will play all child roles, all alien roles, and all prats dedicated to midgets. This will free up budget for more special effects.

The children can, if required, be stacked like lego, to make the bigger monsters for the series, but doubts have been raised as to whether they will be able to stay in formation for fight scenes.

Other cost cutting measures include replacing the Tardis' traditional police box exterior with a porta loo, and replacing Martha Jones, with talentless comedienne Catherine Tate.

The main reason for the need to cut the shows budget is the number of spin off series Rustle T Davis has created, ranging from the Cardiff bases torch wood, to the Swansea bases Throodcow and the series Codwhroot set in Bangor. These series have lead to the BBC having no money to spend on the original show and choosing not to cut back in other sectors.
