image for UN aid for United Kingdom

In an unexpected move today, the UN promised $250 trillion USD in aid for the "impoverished" United Kingdom today.

The aid money, which is to be used to help flood victims, people in negative equity as well as funding promised tax cuts, is to be paid immediately from UN funds initially earmarked for Iraq.

The cash was secured following a speech by Gordon "hypnotoad" Brown, who persuaded members of the Security Council that Britain was in effect a 3rd world country on the verge of collapse.

Sir Init Forthemoney MP, speaking from the Treasury Department, was delighted. "It's a great boost for the economy, and we all look forward to the extra finance that can be used for some projects that may well not have been practical without. For instance, I have several housing projects that will now go ahead in my constituency, including some very nice penthouse flats that will be rented to suitable people."

Some UN members said that they didn't remember voting, but were happy at the proposals. U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said, "It was Mr Brown's eyes that I remember most, but the speech was very convincing. I felt compelled to vote, even though it's not something I would normally do. Still, if everyone else was happy, that's the main thing."

Gordon "hypnotoad" Brown is fresh from a visit with George Bush, who is still running around the Whitehouse Lawn naked.
